| Bio: | I am an elderly Englishman, whose has done a number of things in the past, most notably work and publications in the history of the British women's movement; I am secretary of the Friends of The Women's Library (in London, UK). In addition, I am a member of a number of societies, especially the Dorothy L. Sayers Society, the Elgar Society and especially the Tolkien Society. I also speak French, Russian and Welsh with a degree of fluency, and other mainly Indo-European languages in decreasing levels of competence (starting with Italian, in which I'm only mildly incompetent, and working down from there).
My journal is there just to establish a presence. I don't feel a real need for a blog, but I get fed up with being posted on othe pages as "anonymous".
The name "Galion" is of course not the French for a type of sailing ship, but a Tolkien reference, to the butler in "the Hobbit" who succumbed to the "heady" wines of Dorwinion. |
